Abstract
The topographical relationships between the recurrent laryngeal nerve and the inferior thyroid
artery in 54 Korean cadavers, which were used for dissection in Yonsei University from 1964 to I
1968, were studied. {
1. The most f requent type of the relationship, in which the recurrent laryngeal nerve passed behind the inferior thyroid artery, was Type 11 and found in an incidence of 43.4% in the right sides and 47.6% in the left sides.
2. The Type, 2, which was secondly found and in which the recurrent laryngeal nerve passed between the terminal twings_,of :the inferior hyroid artery, was found in an incidence of 37.7% in the right sides and 33.3% in the left sides.
3. The Type 1, which was thirdly found and in which the recurrent laryngeal nerve passed in front of the inferior thyroid artery, was occurred in an incidence of 13.2% in the right sides and j 11.9% in the left ones.
